Response to Afghan Refugee Resettlement in Saskatoon
Prince’s Trust Canada is a national charity and a member of the Prince’s Trust Group, a global network of charities. Prince’s Trust Canada creates opportunities for young people and members of the military and Veteran community through programs designed to prepare them for the transforming world of work, and to build an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable future.
On occasion, there are special projects initiated by our colleagues across the Prince’s Trust Group, and due to this very unique situation we were pleased that one of our Board members was able to support this significant effort.
Prior to the pandemic, Prince’s Trust Canada supported newcomers in a variety of programs including Get Into and Discover: Hospitality in Saskatoon and Calgary. Our current and future programming work continues to focus on skill development and employment for young people including new Canadians, and not in the area of refugee resettlement.
As of September 2021, the second of two groups of students are in Pakistan, awaiting confirmation of when they will arrive in Saskatoon to join their classmates and begin their resettlement journey.
If you are interested in contributing to the Afghan resettlement in Saskatoon, the Saskatoon Open Door Society is warmly welcoming them and providing essential resettlement and support services. To support their efforts, visit https://www.sods.sk.ca/home/support-afghan-refugees..
