Canadian Veteran Wins Prince’s Trust Global Sustainability Award
News Release:
TORONTO, MAY 16, 2023 – Canadian veteran and aerospace entrepreneur Cole Rosentreter is the recipient of the Prince’s Trust Global Sustainability Award for his work bringing cutting-edge drone technology to the skies above wildfires and climate disasters.
After serving 15 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, Rosentreter was ready for his next chapter. He enrolled in Prince’s Trust Canada’s entrepreneurship program for Veterans and was able to learn business skills that helped him transform his concept of using aerial imagery to help first responders battling wildfires make more informed decisions, into a Canadian scale-up success story. Today, his company Pegasus employs 26 people and counts global aerospace leaders like Boeing and provincial wildfire agencies in Alberta as partners backing their work.
The Prince’s Trust Global Sustainability Award honours Prince’s Trust program graduates that have made outstanding contributions to enhancing sustainability.
Founded by His Majesty King Charles III, the former Prince of Wales, Prince’s Trust Canada (PTC) is His Majesty King Charles’ flagship charity in Canada. Prince’s Trust Canada helps build a more sustainable Canada by partnering with employers to help equity-deserving youth and Veterans secure meaningful employment through training and mentorship.
Quotes:
“When I was medically retiring from the Army, I had years of invaluable experience working in and leading a small team solving complex problems, but I needed to find my next mission in life. I saw the enormous scale of wildfires growing worse every year, had an idea on how to radically change this, and jumped head-first straight into entrepreneurship. Through Prince’s Trust Canada, I was able to learn the basics of starting a business, and I’ve never looked back. I am deeply honoured to win the Prince’s Trust Global Sustainability Award and grateful to His Majesty King Charles III’s charity for its impact on my life.” – Cole Rosentreter, CEO, Pegasus
“From flooding in British Columbia to wildfires in Alberta, Canada is facing a climate crisis and we need all hands on deck. It’s precisely innovations like Cole’s that will help us manage the climate challenges ahead and I’m thrilled that Prince’s Trust Canada was able to help Cole turn his idea into a reality that will help the world better manage the climate challenges ahead.” – Farah Mohamed, CEO, Prince’s Trust Canada
