Global Ismaili CIVIC Day 2022: Championing Environmental Stewardship
Global Ismaili CIVIC Day brings together tens of thousands of volunteers across the globe to practice civic engagement and good citizenship. This year’s theme was about improving the quality of life in neighbourhoods and societies through Environmental Stewardship.
To help raise awareness about everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment, Ismaili Civic volunteers partnered with Prince’s Trust Canada to plant 1,000 trees and shrubs in North Vancouver.
The trees and shrubs planted around Lynn Creek, British Columbia, will not only absorb a significant amount of carbon dioxide over their lifetime, but will also create habitat, provide homes, food and shelter for animals, support the area’s biodiversity and help prevent erosion. This tremendous accomplishment will create a positive impact on local communities and habitats for years to come.
Global Ismaili CIVIC Day presented an opportunity for 90 volunteers from Ismaili Civic and Prince’s Trust Canada to come together and demonstrate values of service, sustainability, community and action. This tree planting initiative marked another chapter in Prince’s Trust Canada’s contributions to building a sustainable future for Canada, where young people and communities thrive.
