TKTC’s The Network: August Event

Overview

Are you a young person in Toronto (18-30) undergoing a career transition and looking to build your network?

By expanding your network, you’ll increase your chances of building that career path you’ve been looking for.

That’s why The King’s Trust Canada created The Network — free and fun monthly events where young people, ages 18 to 30, learn how to network and make valuable career connections!

On August 27th, you’re invited to our FREE networking event for young Torontonians (18 to 30) at StartWell on King West!

This event is designed to help young people who have had or are currently having a career shift to build their network through personal and career connections. You’ll also hear real career shift stories from our expert panel and get inspired to take the leap for yourself!

Panel

  • Naeema Hassan began her career in nursing before pivoting toward global health and public policy. She went on to complete a Master of Public Administration and built a career in management consulting, supporting healthcare and digital health initiatives. Currently a PhD student in Global Health at York University, her research examines how institutional policies and governance shape equitable global health partnerships. Naeema is passionate about showing young people that career paths are not always linear and that pivots and redirections can open unexpected opportunities for growth, learning, and impact.
  • Paloma Stuart began her academic journey studying Industrial Engineering in Lima, Peru before moving to Spain to continue her studies. After a year in Spain, she realized her interests aligned better with business and pivoted to business school. Despite being offered a job in Spain, she returned to Peru due to visa restrictions and spent six years at EY, focusing on risk management. Seeking broader opportunities outside of consulting, she moved to Canada to pursue an MBA at Ivey Business School just before the Covid-19 pandemic. She completed most of her MBA online and secured a role at Scotiabank through a leadership development program. This experience enabled her to pivot into product ownership and ultimately led to her current role as Senior Product Owner for International Banking.
