The King’s Trust recognizes 18 Canadians with the King Charles III Coronation Medal

TORONTO, April 24th, 2025 – The King’s Trust Canada proudly awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal to 18 remarkable Canadians, celebrating their outstanding contributions to Canada.  

Recipients of The King Charles III Coronation Medal are recognized for their significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region of, or community in Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. 

The Coronation Medal was created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation and was created by the Sovereign and administered by the Chancellery of Honours.  

“It is so important to recognize the extraordinary efforts of individuals who give selflessly to benefit others. This group spanning journalism, health care, arts, business, public service, and philanthropy are inspiration and an irrefutable example of how one individual can make a difference in their community and country” said Farah Mohamed, Senator and CEO, The King’s Trust. 

The King Charles III Coronation Medal was awarded to: 

  • Andrew Hungerford for engaging and promoting partnerships with Indigenous business and communities especially in Western Canada. 
  • Ash Prakash for his unwavering support for the preservation and promotion of Canadian artistic heritage. 
  • Cameron Bailey for his commitment to fostering inclusivity and representation in the film industry. 
  • Cynthia Caron Thorburn for her profound dedication to enhancing education, the arts, and environmental stewardship. 
  • Dr. Emmanuelle Gattuso for her transformative contributions to healthcare institutions, social services, the arts, and health initiatives that support underrepresented populations 
  • Eva Havaris for promoting sport, empowering athletes, and championing inclusivity to transform the sports community. 
  • Hilary Pearson for her lifelong work to strengthen the philanthropic community across Canada. 
  • Janice Charette for her unwavering dedication to the principles of good governance and public administration, guiding the nation’s leadership through complex challenges. 
  • Justin Wiebe for his exceptional commitment to enhancing the lives of Indigenous youth. 
  • Lori Spadorcia for advancing mental health initiatives and Indigenous advancement across Canada, fostering a more compassionate and inclusive society. 
  • Malik Talib for his lifelong commitment to community service and upholding the principles of pluralism and social justice making an impact in Canada and around the world. 
  • Mary DePaoli for significantly enhancing the cultural, sports, educational and marketing landscape of Canada. 
  • Nadir Patel his commitment to public service, making significant contributions to Canada’s diplomatic landscape and fostering international relations 
  • Nahlah Ayed fostering a more informed, empathetic, and globally engaged nation 
  • Nila Ibrahimi for her resilience and commitment to advocating for Afghan women. 
  • Terry Smith for her tireless advocacy, action and for inspiring others to support individuals living on the street through Just Socks 
  • Thor Richardson for helping to revitalize under-resourced neighbourhoods in Winnipeg, making a tangible difference in the lives of residents. 
  • Zainool Mamdani for her contributions to community development, cultural enrichment, and social justice.
